Roundup - Wildcats clinch Antietam title

PREP BASEBALL



SMITHSBURG - Phillip Jordan had four hits, including a home run, and struck out 11 as No. 4 Williamsport beat Smithsburg 10-4 to clinch the MVAL Antietam Conference title Tuesday.

David Warrenfeltz and Derek Hadley each added two hits and Tyler Beard hit a solo homer for the Wildcats (17-2, 12-2).

Joe Acre had two hits, including a home run, for the Leopards (2-14, 1-13).

Goretti 12, Bishop Walsh 1


Kevin Brashears had three hits and drove in four runs as St. Maria Goretti cruised past Bishop Walsh.

Chris Dorsey and P.J. Donoghue each added two hits and two RBI for the Gaels (12-9).

Hancock 8, Southern Fulton 2


WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Andy Morris had 11 strikeouts and added two hits at the plate to lead Hancock past Southern Fulton.

Kenny Clark and Derrick Clingerman each added two hits for the Panthers (6-12). Clingerman also drove in three runs.

Tyler Elbin led Southern Fulton (3-13) with two hits.

No. 3 Catoctin 8, Boonsboro 0


THURMONT, Md. - Alicia Brandenburg fired a two-hitter with 16 strikeouts and just one walk as Catoctin blanked Boonsboro in MVAL Antietam action.

Brandenburg also had two doubles and Sam Valentine went 3-for-4 for the Cougars (16-2, 13-1).

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Karey Toms had two hits, including a two-run single to highlight a four-run eighth inning, as Waynesboro knocked off James Buchanan on Monday.

JB's Beth Hawbaker hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth.

Paige Tanner and Amanda Redano each added two hits for Waynesboro (12-6).

No. 6 Williamsport 5, Smithsburg 4


SMITHSBURG - Heather Taylor doubled twice and drove in two runs as Williamsport edged Smithsburg in the MVAL Antietam.

Jessica Patey and Jess Bennett each added two hits for the Wildcats (13-4, 11-3). Bennett also knocked in a run and pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.

Kasie Beaver had four hits, Candace Stanford had three hits and an RBI and Kayla Martin drove in a run for Smithsburg (4-13, 3-12).

Clear Spring 17, Goretti 11


Stephanie Reynard had three hits and three RBI and Maggie Wolford had two hits and two RBI to lead Clear Spring past St. Maria Goretti.

Taylor Miller had two hits and two RBI for the Gaels (3-19), while Chelsea Miller had two hits and Elena Prieston drove in three runs in the loss.
