"To the person who had their 'Support Our Troops' ribbon stolen off of their car on West Franklin Street, my advice to you is to go to a local car wash. I had recently gone to one and they had tons of these magnets for the cars that people had left there. I had about 15 of them from the car wash that they just gave me. Go to the local car wash and you can still support your son and nephew."

"I'm fed up and tired of hearing about Willie Mays. He was a great ballplayer and that's fine but I can't understand all this interest by our local mayor here in Hagerstown, there are a lot of more pressing issues to be addressed. Senior citizens, crimes and there are kids looking for places to play in the summer time and he's worried about Willie Mays. Enough is enough, get on with real business and those that can remember Willie Mays and when he played and everything, how many of us were actually there at that game? I'd like to hear how many people are still living in Hagerstown, or are actually still alive for that matter, who actually went to that game and was a part of that crowd that actually booed the man?"

"President Bush and his news conference said that the government bonds sitting in the Social Security filing cabinet are worthless IOUs. It's funny because then he said you can have government bonds in your private account. Obviously our government bonds aren't worthless pieces of paper, otherwise our government would have collapsed long ago. George Bush is either ill-informed or just trying to mislead the public. Either way, he's a fool he shouldn't even be allowed to put his hands on Social Security."

"There is a old adage that says 'there is no sense being dumb unless you can prove it' and the Bush lovers certainly prove it. For instance, they approve when Bush lies to them about China affecting demand on oil when in fact it's Iraq affecting the supply on oil because there is no oil coming out of Iraq. That's why you got Bush talking to the Saudis to get them to increase production and not China. Also they believe that Social Security should be completely dismantled. Bush is taking 2 to 4 million dollars a day from Social Security to finance his tax cuts. He hasn't created the millions of jobs that he said he would to help fund Social Security.

"I think that Dick Trump of Hagerstown needs to wake up and realize that he is not Donald Trump of New York."

"I'm calling about the problem I have. My husband has been out of work since December 2004 and at this time we have no income and I was wondering if there is anybody out there that can tell me where I can go to seek some help or some type of assistance? I am in desperate need."

"I don't think we need to name anything after Willie Mays, if I were him I wouldn't want to be reminded on how I was treated because of my race. He is a person and intelligent enough to try and forget that sight. Those days are over and put behind us. Sorry, Mayor Breichner."

Social Security went up 2 1/2 percent and soon we will have two classes of citizens - the poor and the rich."

"Why didn't the mayor name his driveway Willie Mays Way?"

"You are right, the cleaning up of the airwaves isn't all about children. Please don't call in and tell me if I want to see nudity and foul language I should rent a video tape. In the privacy of my own home, I believe I can watch anything I want. Many of you people who are so anxious to have the government censor your television to protect you and your children from foul language don't seem to understand that the remote control has this wonderful switch - one of them will turn the channel and the other one will turn it off. If you can't handle what's on television or what's on the radio, then don't watch or listen to it. Don't tell me I should go do something and rent a video and don't subject others to this lifestyle."

- Sharpsburg

"The house needs painting, the driveway is a mess, the weeds are getting taller and still they raise the assessment 17 percent. Gasoline prices are high but I'm more concerned about the high property taxes.

"On Aug. 23, 2004, I fell at the Tractor Supply Store in Hagerstown and two very nice people helped me and I would like to thank them and I don't know their name but if they would like to call me I'll leave my number, 301-790-2966. Thank you."

"I have a suggestion on naming streets, stadiums, and buildings after famous people. In the new open courtyard beside the renovated University of Maryland building, why don't you erect a honor wall with all the names and dates and what they are being honored for? They now even have a way of putting pictures on granite."
