A Hedgesville, W.Va., woman who was hospitalized after a head-on collision Thursday night near Hagerstown remained in critical condition Sunday night, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Sharon Dawn Buck-Ahrens, orchestra manager of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after her 1995 Volvo station wagon collided with a 2002 Ford Focus on Interstate 70.

The driver of the Ford, Autumn Cheree Mendoza, 23, died in the accident. Mendoza's 1-year-old son, Christian Domingo Mendoza, was not seriously injured, police said.

Two other women were in a Kia Optima that swerved to avoid the accident. They were treated at Washington County Hospital and released, a spokesperson said. Elisa Devore, 21, was the driver of the Kia, and her passenger was Michelle Devore, 22, police said. Both live near Hagerstown.
