Cooking with arthritis


FREDERICK, Md. - Sandra Corridon will give information and demonstrations on cooking techniques for those with arthritis at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center in Frederick. The class is free.

Senior expo


FREDERICK, Md. - Dr. Nathan Wei will discuss arthritis, Barb Kunkle will demonstrate some exercises for those with limited flexibility, and Linda Bryant will share her tips for living actively with arthritis, during a presentation at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Frederick County Fair Grounds' 2005 Senior Expo in Building 14.

Spirituality course


The Center for Continuing Education at Hagerstown Community College will offer "Spirituality in Healing" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the HCC Valley Mall Center.

This course, taught by Robert Bastress, a Sufi Master teacher, is designed to be an introduction to the philosophy and practices of Sufism as an essential basis for healing both the body and the heart.

Cancer education


FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick Memorial Hospital Regional Cancer Therapy Center's "I Can Cope" program will provide cancer education that patients need - practical information about the diseases that we call cancer, an understanding of the various treatments used to fight cancer, and strategies for those facing cancer. Each session of the series addresses one of the above topics or related issues.

The first class will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, in Frederick Memorial Hospital's second-floor Classroom 5.

The schedule is:

Session I - Learning about Cancer and Treatment, 10 a.m. to noon

Session II - Keeping Well in Mind, Body, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The second class will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 24, in Frederick Memorial Hospital's second-floor Classroom 2.

The schedule is:

Session III - Understanding Feelings and Relationships, 8 to 10 a.m.

Session IV - Celebrating Resources and Celebrating Life, 10:15 a.m. to noon.
