SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - A 70-year-old woman was kidnapped, robbed and sexually assaulted early Friday when she stopped to pick up someone flagging her down in the road, West Virginia State Police said.
A man and a boy abducted the woman at gunpoint around the intersection of W.Va. 9 and W.Va. 480 and forced her to drive to a place where both sexually assaulted her, police said in a news release.
Police said they have charged Aaron Franklin Edwards, 27, of Martinsburg, W.Va., and a 15-year-old boy from Kearneysville, W.Va., with kidnapping, armed robbery and first-degree sexual assault.
Edwards also was charged with giving false information.
The boy also was charged with a second count of first-degree sexual assault.
Police said Edwards and the boy also took all of the women's money, then let her go when she promised not to report the attack to authorities.
