SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - A 70-year-old woman was kidnapped, robbed and sexually assaulted early Friday when she stopped to pick up someone flagging her down in the road, West Virginia State Police said.

A man and a boy abducted the woman at gunpoint around the intersection of W.Va. 9 and W.Va. 480 and forced her to drive to a place where both sexually assaulted her, police said in a news release.

Police said they have charged Aaron Franklin Edwards, 27, of Martinsburg, W.Va., and a 15-year-old boy from Kearneysville, W.Va., with kidnapping, armed robbery and first-degree sexual assault.

Edwards also was charged with giving false information.

The boy also was charged with a second count of first-degree sexual assault.

Police said Edwards and the boy also took all of the women's money, then let her go when she promised not to report the attack to authorities.

The woman, who was not identified, was on her way to her home in Shepherdstown when she stopped for the person waving her down, police said.

After allegedly attacking the woman, Edwards and the boy tried to rob someone else, but the second person thwarted them and helped police catch them, police said.

Police said both men were being held without bond pending preliminary hearings.
