NEW MARKET, Md. - A 17-year-old Carroll County, Md., boy was killed Friday on Gas House Pike after his car crossed the center line and was hit by an oncoming vehicle, police said.

Robert J. Lehr, 17, of Union Bridge, Md., was pronounced dead at the scene, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

After the crash, the other driver, Mary K. Dunn, 32, of New Market, was taken to Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and later released, police said.

A 3-year-old boy riding in Dunn's vehicle was not injured.

Police said the crash happened about 11:10 a.m. on Gas House Pike, near Sanandrew Drive, north of New Market.

Lehr, driving south, lost control of his 1991 Acura Integra around a curve and crossed the center line, police said.

Dunn, driving north in a 2005 Ford Freestyle, hit Lehr's Acura on the passenger side, police said.
