Fairgrounds skate park opens Saturday

The City of Hagerstown's skate park at Fairgrounds Park will open for the 2005 season Saturday. The skate park will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The fee is $5 per participant on weekends and $3 on weeknights. All skaters are required to wear a helmet as well as elbow and knee pads, which are available for rent at the rate of $1 per hour.

All participants are required to sign a release form. A guardian or parent must sign the form if the skater is younger than 18.

Work crews to install signs, posts in city

Work crews will install signs and sign posts at the northwest corner of West Washington and Jonathan streets beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, weather permitting, according to a City of Hagers- town press release.


Temporary lane closures may be required and "no parking" signs may be posted at several spaces on Jonathan Street.

Motorists approaching the intersection should expect to encounter barricades, traffic control devices and warning cones until the work is completed that afternoon.
