Teen injured when struck by car Monday

A teen was taken to Washington County Hospital after he was struck by a car Monday on Hebb Road, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

Deputies said the 13-year-old Hebb Road resident rode his skateboard into the road and was struck by a 2001 Dodge at about 7:30 p.m. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, deputies said.

Deputies said no charges were filed Monday against the driver, whose identity was not released.

Additional information, including the boy's condition, was not released by deputies Monday evening.

Pickup catches fire in turnpike tunnel

AMBERSON, Pa. - A pickup truck loaded with hay caught fire in the eastbound Kittatinny Tunnel of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Monday night, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said the fire occurred at about 7:15 p.m. and the eastbound tunnel was still closed at about 11 p.m. Police said the tunnel would remain closed until the tunnel was inspected by turnpike authorities.


Police were preparing to divert the eastbound traffic into the westbound tunnel and allow traffic to go in both directions until the tunnel was re-opened, police said.

Sheriff's deputies respond to calls

The Washington County Sheriff's Department has responded to the following calls since Friday, Sgt. Mark Knight said:


· At 6 a.m., a 1988 red and silver Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 was reported stolen in the 20000 block of Leitersburg Pike. The car has Maryland tags MGB590.


· At 8:30 a.m., an undetermined amount of jewelry was reported stolen during a breaking and entering at O'Connell Jewelers at Valley Mall.

· At noon, a Chevrolet Blazer was reported broken into in the 13900 block of Maple Ridge. An unknown amount of OxyContin was reported stolen.

· At 2 p.m., a house in the 14500 block of Bain Road was reported broken into.

· At 3 p.m., an ornamental lighthouse was reported stolen in the 12200 block of Little Antietam Road.

· At 3:30 p.m. a Chevrolet Blazer parked in the 12000 block of Ernstville Road was reported broken into. Some CDs and medication were reported stolen.

· At 9:30 p.m., alleged domestic violence was reported in the 300 block of Saint Paul Street in Boonsboro. No arrests were made.


· At 11:30 a.m., alleged domestic violence was reported in the 11200 block of Youngstoun Drive. No arrests were made.

· At 1 p.m., a window to a 1995 Ford pickup truck was reported shot out with a pellet gun in the 16800 block of Pen Mar Circle.

· At 1:30 p.m., tires were reported slashed on a Chevrolet truck parked in the first block of South Artizan Street in Williamsport.

· At 4 p.m., a tire was reported slashed on a 2004 Honda Odyssey parked in the 16500 block of Tammany Lane.

· At 4:30 p.m., a wallet was reported stolen from the back office of Kay-Bee Toys, at 450 Prime Outlets Blvd.

· At 6:30 p.m., a house in the 14500 block of Bain Road was reported broken into.

Motorcycle stolen off transport trailer

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft Saturday of a motorcycle from 1334 Pine Stump Road.

Police said the 1999 CR250R motorcycle was stolen off a transport trailer between 1 and 8 a.m. The cycle belongs to James Eichenlaub, 25, of Chambersburg, police said.

In a separate report, police said two all-terrain vehicles were stolen Saturday from a storage shed at 6926 Rice Road in Southampton Township. The ATVs belong to Ted W. Jr. and Corey Allan Scheaffer of Shippensburg, Pa., and were reported stolen at 1:52 a.m., police said.

Man tries to rob convenience store

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an attempted robbery Sunday night at Rutter's Farm Store, 4030 Lincoln Way East.

Police said a man with a handgun attempted to rob the store at approximately 9 p.m., but fled without any money. No one was injured, police said.

Police gave no detailed description of the robber.

Police said several customers either were leaving or entering the store during the time the man was inside. Anyone who was in the store between 8:50 and 9:10 p.m. may call state police at 717-264-5161.

Rifles reported stolen from Pa. home

FANNETTSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a burglary on Tuesday, April 19, in which two rifles were stolen from a Metal Township home.

Police said the house in the 17000 block of East Fannettsburg Road was entered through a rear door between 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. A Remington Model 760 pump-action rifle and a Marlin .22 Magnum rifle were stolen, along with a PlayStation and several PlayStation games.

Anyone with information about the burglary may call state police at 717-264-5161.

Man charged in gas station robbery

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - A Fayetteville man has been charged by Pennsylvania State Police after a gas station was robbed Friday morning.
