Old Trail Estates come to Hagerstown

April 25, 2005|by MALINDA SHAVER of HomeSource

It's location, location . . . as they say, that makes Old Trail Estates an interesting development - one you should check out if you're in the market for a new home close to the heart of Hagerstown. With parks on the north, east and west, the area between Vale Street and Fridinger Avenue will be the site of 27 new single-family detached homes. The county fairgrounds and ice hockey rink offer more recreational opportunities nearby.

South Mountain Builders is projecting four phases of construction, with the first group of homes available for purchase now. Delivery is expected in September. Buyers can select from four different elevations in a colonial style. Several houses are available with a brick facade, and two types of porches create variety within the neighborhood. Each lot will have sod and landscaping. Entry to the attached garages at the rear of the homes is through the private entrance alley that runs between the rows of houses.

The living level and upper bedroom floors total about 1,900 square feet of space. Owners may add an optional finished recreation room in the basement. Generous living space on the main floor, with its nine-foot ceilings, includes a large entrance foyer, flanked by living room and dining room. Farther on, along one side, are the kitchen, dinette and main floor laundry and mud room. The family room adjoins the dinette and may be highlighted by a fireplace, if selected. Foyer and hallway floors are hardwood. Oak handrails, raised six-panel doors and crown molding enhance the decor. Oak cabinets in the kitchen are standard, with maple and cherry also available.

Depending on the residents' desires, the second level of Old Trail homes can be configured either with three bedrooms or four. With the three-bedroom layout, the master bath will accommodate a luxurious soaking tub, plus a separate shower. With either arrangement, the owners' bedroom features a recessed, lighted tray ceiling and a generous walk-in closet.

As to the all-important practicalities: each home has public sewer and water; an energy-efficient heat pump with central AC, a covered side porch with rear entry, pre-wired telephone and cable outlets.

Pricing at Old Trail Estates is from $289,900. Sales representatives for the Old Trail Estates homes are the Castle Team of Real Estate Teams, LLC. Gloria and Roland Castle and their team can help you settle in; call them at 301-898-5800.

DIRECTIONS: Take Dual Highway (Route 40) to Eastern Boulevard. Turn north to Jefferson Boulevard, then proceed west to Fridinger Avenue.
