Morgan County man killed in W.Va. crash

AUGUSTA, W.Va. - A 21-year-old Berkeley Springs, W.Va., man was killed Thursday morning when the 1989 Acura Integra he was driving slid and struck a tractor-trailer on U.S. 50 at the western base of Cooper Mountain in Hampshire County, said West Virginia State Police.

Jason Anthony Stohl, was headed east on the highway about 8 a.m. when the car went off the edge of the road, re-entered the road and began sliding sideways, according to a press release from state police.

The car, which was registered to Jaanine Glasscock of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., went into the path of a westbound tractor-trailer and the struck the truck on the car's passenger side, the release said.

Stohl's car came to rest on the shoulder of the highway, police said.

The tractor-trailer began leaking diesel fuel and officials estimate about 143 gallons of fuel leaked on the shoulder, the release said.

The crash occurred in an area known as Hanging Rock curve, east of Augusta, state police said.
