Employees of the Year named at Roxbury Correctional Institution

The following people were named Employees of the Year for 2004 at Roxbury Correctional Institution.

Carliss Eby and Kay Malott, correctional officers on the 7-3 shift, were named Employees of the Month for January.

Eby and Malott were selected for their job performance while working in the package room at Roxbury. They opened two packages sent to the institution that were addressed to inmates not housed at Roxbury. Both packages contained tobacco and marijuana. They were commended for stopping the items from entering the institution.

Sgt. Stephen McDonough, a correctional officer on the 7-3 shift, was named Employee of the Month for May.

McDonough was selected for his job performance as sergeant in charge of the receiving and ID area at Roxbury. He handled the process of transferring a large number of inmates from Roxbury during the depopulation phase and, shortly after per orders from headquarters, handled the process of transferring a large number of inmates back to the institution due to an emergency construction problem in Baltimore.

Trudy Smith, an office secretary, was named Employee of the Month for November.

Smith was selected for her work history and work ethic. In addition to her regular duties as secretary to the chief of security, she is responsible for the entire headquarters' security audit reporting process, the annual review of the post-order review process, the Facility Emergency Plans Read and Sign process, Security Department equipment and supplies budget tracking, custody staffing, overtime analysis, and management entry and reporting. She also assists in the clothing and equipping of the Institutional Ceremonial Unit, and assists with other special projects for the support services captain and the administration.

Other Employees of the Month for 2004 were Psychology Associate II Ann Seyle (February), registered nurses Susan Leonard and Lisa Marlowe (March), Correctional Officer II Ronald Pfeiffer (April), Correctional Officer II Steven Miller (June), volunteer activities coordinators Denise Gelsinger and Angie Moore and typist clerk Sally Bowers (July), Correctional Officer II Earl Clark (August), Correctional Officer II Glenn Gross (September), Correctional Officer Sgt. Dennis Weller and Correctional Officer II's Gregory Everitts, Robert Hendershot, Charles Moore Jr. and Roland Silver Jr. (October) and Correctional Officer II Gary Winters (December).
