Doo Dah Day 5K

WINCHESTER, Va. - Hagerstown's Mike Fitzgerald and Clear Spring's Jennifer Hartnett were the runners-up at the 14th annual Doo Dah Day 5K.

Fitzgerald, 50, finished second overall in 17 minutes, 34 seconds. Hartnett, 28, was the second overall female in 20:20.


Hagerstown Speedway rained out

For the sixth time this season, rain washed away racing at the Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday.

The World of Outlaws come to Hagerstown this Saturday.

Race time is 7 p.m.


Brown wins two events

THURMONT, Md. - Corey Brown, a Smithsburg graduate, won two events Saturday at the Eric Kloiber Metro Championships at Mount St. Mary's

The Mount sophomore won the long jump with a distance of 24 feet, 1 1/2 inches and the high jump at 6-2 3/4.

Brothers Josh and Ryan Martin, of Williamsport, finished one-two in the discus for the Mount. Josh Martin threw 153-3 and Ryan Martin's toss was 147-0.

HCC at IUP Open

INDIANA, Pa. - Vaughn Sheroda finished second in the discus in a national qualifying distance of 151 feet, 7 inches to lead Hagerstown Community College at the IUP Open.

Jodan Sterner finished in a tie for first in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 57.21 seconds on a cold, rainy day. Sterner won his heat but only received a tie because the winner of the other heat ran an identical time.

Sterner also finished third in the 110 high hurdles in 15.54.

Bobby Boston won the 5,000 in 16:04 while Allen Pettner finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 194-8.
