Welcome to Marlowe sign to be unveiled Monday

MARLOWE, W.Va. - Boy Scout Troop 16 and its sponsor, Harmony United Methodist Church, will host a dedication ceremony to unveil a welcome sign on U.S. 11 on Sunday, April 24, 2005 at 2 p.m.

The public is invited to the sign dedication and unveiling ceremony. Del. John Overington, Berkeley County legislative officials and representatives of Marlowe's community organizations are expected.

The 12-foot-long by 7-foot- high stone and cedar wood sign will identify Marlowe to everyone who passes.

Life Scout Douglas "Kirk" Rude planned and developed the sign as his Eagle Scout Service Project.

The Marlowe community sign was constructed entirely from volunteer labor, with all materials either donated by local businesses or purchased by funds contributed by the community non-profit organizations and residents.
