BlueClaws snap one away from Suns in 12th

April 19, 2005

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Sam Orr ripped a two-out RBI single in the 12th inning Monday to lift the Lakewood BlueClaws to a 7-6 victory over the Hagerstown Suns.

The Suns (9-3), who have lost two straight, battled back from a 5-0 deficit to tie the game in the ninth on Mike Carp's South Atlantic League-leading fifth home run.

Hagerstown took the lead in the top of the 12th when Dante Brinkley rolled a swinging bunt to a charging Orr at third base. Brinkley beat out the single and Ryan Coultas scored when Orr's throw got past the first baseman.

The Suns, who commited three errors, immediately got in trouble.

Reliever Marcelo Perez (0-1) allowed Sean Gamble a leadoff single that right fielder Carlos Gomez misplayed.

Bradley Harman followed with an RBI double. An intentional walk and two outs later, Orr singled in the game-winner.
