Candidates forums

· The Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce will host two Hagerstown City election forums - one for City Council candidates and the second for mayoral candidates. Sponsors for the forums are Hagerstown Trust, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park and Antietam Cable.

The council candidate forum will be Thursday, April 28, at the Four Points Sheraton and will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast. The program will start at 7:45 a.m.

The mayoral candidate forum will be Wednesday, May 11, at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, and also will begin at 7:30 a.m with a buffet breakfast. The program will start at 7:45 a.m.

The cost is $17 for Chamber members and $27 for nonmembers.

Both forums will be recorded by Antietam Cable Television and will be rebroadcast in their entirety on Channel 19 several times before election day, May 17.

· Hagerstown Community College will hold a forum for City of Hagerstown mayor and council candidates Friday, April 29, at 7 p.m. at the HCC Valley Mall Center.

The forum, which is free, will be hosted by HCC state and local government students.

The panel of 13 candidates will discuss issues such as city/county cooperation, hospital relocation and economic growth. Questions will be taken from the audience.

· The League of Women Voters of Washington County will host a forum for Hagerstown mayor and City Council candidates at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Bester Elementary School, 30 E. Memorial Blvd.
