Mercersburg 7 Lawrenceville 4

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Zach Hart hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning Saturday to give Mercersburg Academy a big enough advantage to knock off Lawrenceville in a MAPL game.

Hart's homer turned a 3-2 lead into a four-run cushion and gave Josh Edgin enough support through six innings for a victory. Edgin threw a four-hitter and struck out nine before tiring in the seventh inning.

Gunner Coil had two hits and an RBI for Mercersburg (5-1, 2-0) while Josh Davis added two hits.

Georgetown Day 21-5 Saint James 0-9

SAINT JAMES - Winning pitcher Jimmy Sutch threw a complete game and had three hits and three RBI in the nightcap to lead Saint James to a split of a Mid-Atlantic Conference doubleheader.

Sutch hit a two-run homer in the Saints' third inning and Alex Bust added a two-run shot in Saint James' five-run fourth. Bust, who also had a sacrifice fly, finished with three RBI while Colin McWilliams had two hits and an RBI.


Saint James (2-8, 1-6) allowed 15 runs in the first inning of the opener. McWilliams and Sutch each had one of the Saints' two hits.

Martinsburg 7 Livonia (N.Y.) 6

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mark Albright singled to drive in Jake Wines with the winning run with one out in the eighth inning Saturday to lift Martinsburg over Livonia (N.Y.)

Martnsburg (8-7) trailed 6-1 heading into the fifth until Brandon Armentrout hit a run-scoring triple and Albright followed with a run-scoring single to start a four-run inning.

Armentrout finished with two hits and an RBI will drawing three walks. Albright finished with two hits and two RBI.

Mike Streeter went 3-for-4 for Livonia (1-3)

Garrett's Run 5K

FREDERICK - Susan Graham-Gray, of Greencastle, Pa., set a women's course record in winning the 10th annual Garrett's Run 5K.

Graham-Gray completed the course in 17 minutes, 28 seconds to take home a $100 prize. Hagerstown's Mike Fitzgerald, 49, won the masters race in 17:45.

Tim Marshall won the men's race in 17:29.

22nd Annual Sallie Mae 10K

WASHINGTON - Tim Schuler of Chambersburg, Pa., and Hagerstown's Maria Spinnler each finshed third in their masters group at the 22nd annual Sallie Mae 10 K.

Schuler, 41, finished 19th overall in 32:47. He was the ninth American finisher. Spinnler, 43, was the 12th female finisher and sixth American, finishing in 31:27. Each won $400 for their efforts.
