FREDERICK, Md. - A single-vehicle accident early Saturday claimed the life of an unidentified male driver and injured a female passenger, Maryland State Police in Frederick said.
According to a press release, a 2002 Dodge Dakota traveling west on Interstate 70 at South Street at 3:47 a.m. Saturday veered out of control onto the right shoulder. The driver overcorrected and drove into the median where the vehicle flipped, ejecting the driver.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name is being withheld by police, pending notification of next of kin.
Police said the passenger, Jamie Grant, 26, of Hagerstown, was flown to Washington County Hospital by Maryland State Police medevac helicopter from the accident scene.
