The Washington County Arts Council is accepting applications for a $1,000 scholarship which will be awarded to a high school senior-level student earning a diploma this year in Washington County, whether from a public high school, private school, or home-school program. The recipient of the scholarship must be planning to continue their education at a college, university or technical school with an intention to pursue a career in the arts.
The scholarship will be awarded for artistic excellence to a student with a major study in visual arts (painting, printmaking, photography, fine crafts) music (instrumental, vocal in any discipline), theater (acting, design), or dance (jazz, modern, classical ballet, choreography) or writing (drama, poetry, prose).
Students must submit a completed application form to be considered for the award. Recommendations by a teacher must be submitted on the nomination form. Supplementary materials are required for each arts discipline. Applications, nominations and supplementary materials must be submitted or postmarked no later than Friday, May 13.
