Mail call

"Could someone please tell me where I could get in touch with somebody about a school bus in the Pangborn area allowing dogs to get on the bus and getting biscuits every morning and every evening when she drops and picks up kids? This has happened different times and I'd like to know who I get in touch with about her letting dogs on the bus and holding up the bus so the dogs can get their biscuit."

"I saw on the news where basically the ice rink board is telling these young competitive figure skaters that they can go to other rinks. If the rink is in trouble financially, why throw these little skaters out? I think it's time someone steps in. It's been in the news now for three weeks and there is nothing fair."

- Berkeley County, W.Va.

"I just wanted to call about the ice rink. They're being very close-lipped down there at the ice rink and I would suggest to those individuals that that is our tax dollars that subsidized that folly that we got ourselves into."

"To the person who thinks it's an insult to the pope and country to have somebody with the morals of Clinton to represent the United States, why didn't you go? Did you miss your flight?"

- Hagerstown

"The caller said if prayer didn't work for the pope how do they expect it to work for them? How do you know that prayer didn't work for the pope? Everybody is going to die at sometime or another. If you're right with God and do His will and ask for forgiveness of your sins and believe in God, you're going to have eternal life. It tells you that in the Bible and if you are able to read you might realize that the pope's prayers were answered."

- Frederick County, Md.

"About the background checks for sex offenders in Llittle League baseball - it is required by international headquarters in Williamsport Pa., to do a background check for every volunteer, coach, manager and umpire who come in any sort of contact with Little League ball players."

- Boonsboro

"I've been asked this by many people and then it happened to me. Why do Christian people leave their churches and come in to other churches and then the pastor lets them just take over and that sort of pushes the ones who have been there for years out? This is happening and not just with my church but other churches, too. I think it's very sad for these things to be happening, especially when people come in that have only been there for just a small time and they are allowed to vote like we always vote. It's OK but don't vote the other people out. Someone that has been there for 32 years and they still come but they have nothing to say and nothing to do and it's sad."

- Boonsboro

"This is to the person who was driving the gray Grand Am on Dual Highway and ran over the duck. Perhaps if you were not on your cell phone you would have seen the duck and stopped in time to not run over her. Please be careful. You know, ducks are friendly. If you get off the phone and pay attention to driving, then it would have been much better."

- Hagerstown

"I'm responding to the person who says they are insulted that Clinton was the one that represented the United States at the pope's funeral. I'm insulted that we have President George Bush who has messed our country up so bad that it will take years to fix it after they finally boot him out of office. We talk about being insulted by Clinton. Clinton did a very good job when he was in office. The things he did in his personal life shouldn't reflect how he is regarded in the U.S. I say my hat is off to Clinton."

- Halfway

"Erin is a trusted and valued coach to 29 children at Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex. She brings in thousands of dollars in revenue to the rink every month. If she is not able to continue coaching, most if not all of her students, my daughter included, will no longer use Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex. In any event, figure skaters choose their own coach."

- Franklin County, Pa.

"I agree that schools should uphold their policies on zero tolerance, but not because the parents are out of options. As easily as kids threaten their parents, they also use threats against teachers and principals when they don't get their way. Schools are for teaching and learning, not for parenting. The best outcomes result when schools and parents work together for the good of children."

- Washington County

"I find it disgraceful that the Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex can continually complain about revenue but then let go two individuals who have brought in more revenue than the others combined."

"I am calling in regard to the piece in the paper about church and clothes. It's not the clothes that makes a person. It's what's in their heart and what God sees in their heart. My church is for anybody, it doesn't matter what color, race or anything or what clothes you wear."

- Hagerstown
