Banks' names to be changed

April 14, 2005

Lititz, Pa.-based Susquehanna Bancshares Inc., will change the names of some of its subsidiary banks, including the Hagerstown-based Farmers & Merchants Bank and Trust, to Susquehanna Bank at the end of business Friday as part of a consolidation plan it announced in October 2004, according to a statement the company released Wednesday.

Signs at the banks, which also include Citizens Bank of Southeastern Pennsylvania and First American Bank of Pennsylvania, will be changed starting this weekend as part of the consolidation from branches under eight names to just three, among them Susquehanna, Susquehanna Bank PA and Susquehanna Patriot Bank.

Susquehanna Bank will be based in Maryland and have $2.8 billion in combined assets, 589 employees and 58 banking offices. Customers were notified of the change in February, the release said.
