Cougars win in a walkover

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - No. 4 Jefferson took advantage of 10 walks by a collection of four Martinsburg pitchers as the Cougars scored nine runs over the first two innings to roll past the Bulldogs in five innings on Tuesday, 13-3.

Winning pitcher Jonathan Hash hit a bases-loaded triple in the second and Gage Levac added a two-run triple in the fifth to lead the Cougars (10-3).

Kaylor Hedges had two hits, including a solo home run for Martinsburg (6-6).

Broadfording 16, Calvary 2

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Paul Merson pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts and added three hits and three RBI to lead Broadfording Christian past Calvary Christian in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference.

John Kehr had four hits, while Tyler Duffey had three and John Lytle and Josh Kehr each added two for the Lions (5-4, 4-0). John Kehr and Lytle each drove in three runs.

Walkersville 14, Catoctin 7

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Matt Sanchez had three hits and drove in three runs to lead Walkersville over Catoctin.

Matt Stouter and Justin Melvin each added two RBI for the Lions (5-3), while Jon Patino had two hits.

Dan Duranko had three hits and two RBI for the Cougars and Jake Yocum added two hits.

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Alecia Brandenburg and Casey Hertel combined on a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts - eight by Brandenburg - as Catoctin blanked Walkersville in five innings.

Hertel had a two-run single for the Cougars (7-1), while Kasey Stiles added two hits.

No. 5 Greencastle 15 Steel-High 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Kris Root hit two home runs and drove in five runs to pace Greencastle over Steel-High in the Mid-Penn Capital.

Maxie George and Sarah Signore each added two RBI for the Blue Devils (6-1, 4-0) while Samantha Phillips struck out four batters.

No. 9 Musselman 16 St. Maria Goretti 2

Lacey Williams hit a grand slam as Musselman pounded St. Maria Goretti.

Tiffany Burnisky added two hits for the Applemen, who took advange of 11 Goretti errors. Faline Brown struck out seven.

Westmar 12, Grace 11

Megan Cox had a grand slam and an RBI double as Grace Academy fought back from a 12-0 deficit in the one-run loss to visiting Westmar.

Laura Browning had two hits and scored two runs and Kelsie Sheaffer had an RBI triple for Grace (2-2).

Bethany Sawyers had three hits and three RBI to lead Westmar.


Mansfield 10-2 Shepherd 7-7

MANSFIELD, Pa. - Collin Brown went 3-for-4 to help Shepherd University beat Mansfield in the second game of a doubleheader, ending the Rams' nine-game losing streak.

Jameson Jarvis and Nicky Brown added two hits apiece for the Rams in the win.

In the opener, Ryan Brady belted a two-run homer for the Rams (13-15) while Collin Brown, Joe Cook and Jerry Jubb each added a pair of hits.
