Tractor-trailer driver taken to hospital following crash

HALFWAY - A Maryland man was taken to the hospital Monday following a tractor-trailer crash at Halfway Boulevard and Hopewell Road, Washington County Sheriff's Department Deputy Matthew Bragunier said.

Bragunier said a tractor-trailer, being driven by Michael W. Wood, 46, of New Carrollton, Md., overturned in front of the AC&T on Hopewell Road at about 7:30 p.m. Bragunier said Wood told him that cargo had shifted during a turn, causing the tractor-trailer to turn onto its side.

He said Wood was taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment of neck and back pain. No other injuries were reported, Bragunier said.

A Washington County Hospital spokeswoman said Wood was listed in good condition late Monday.

The crash caused significant traffic delays in the Halfway area for about 90 minutes, the deputy said. He said no charges were filed by late Monday.

Child treated for leg injuries after falling under van wheels

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police said a child was treated Saturday afternoon at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital for minor cuts and bruises to the legs after falling under the rear wheels of a van.

Police said Dawn Hockenberry, 30, of Chambersburg, had pulled a 1992 Chevrolet Astro van over to the side of Greenway Drive to talk to the child. As Hockenberry pulled away, police said the child was holding the door of the van and walking alongside, but tripped and was run over.

The accident happened at 4:10 p.m., police said.

Three vehicles were stolen from garage

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police said three vehicles were stolen from a garage in the 1600 block of Brechbill Road in Hamilton Township over the weekend.

Police said the garage was entered between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday. Stolen were a 1999 White Honda XR, a 2000 Yamaha YZ 125 and a 1999 Yamaha YZ 125.

Weekend burglary at China King Buffet

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a weekend burglary at China King Buffet, 1685 Lincoln Way East.

Police said a front window of the restaurant was smashed between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 10:15 a.m. Saturday. Police said $100 was stolen.

Virginia man charged with disorderly conduct

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Borough police charged a Virginia man with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after they responded to a report of a fight at Razzle's, 1110 Sheller Ave.

Police said officers went to the club at 12:26 a.m. Sunday and took Alan Manning, 43, of Norfolk, Va., into custody. Manning allegedly pulled a utility knife during the fight, police said.
