Hagerstown races canceled again

April 08, 2005

HAGERSTOWN - The Fan Appreciation Night at Hagerstown Speedway scheduled for last Saturday was canceled due to heavy rains and wet grounds. Rain throughout Friday night and into Saturday forced Promoter Frank Plessinger to cancel for the fifth time is six weeks.

"I don't know what to say anymore," said Plessinger. "I thought the spring of 2003 was bad, but this is the worst in the history of the speedway. We have never lost five races in the first six weeks since I have owned the speedway. The ground is saturated with water and the Conococheague River is near its crest. There might even be snow showers tonight."

Hagerstown will try to get back into action this Saturday with a four-feature program beginning at 7 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. It will be the first point race of the season for the late models, Hoosier Tires late-model sportsman and the Ernie's Salvage Yard Pure Stocks. Also on the program will be the enduro dash.
