Md. man found in van faces drug charges

FREDERICK, Md. - A Germantown, Md., man who was found passed out in his van Monday night is facing drug charges, Maryland State Police said.

Wilbert I. Cooper, 33, was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances and possession with intent to distribute, police said in a press release.

A trooper responding to a call of a person slumped over a steering wheel at U.S. 15 north and the Jefferson Street ramp found Cooper in a 2005 Mazda MPV van in the road, police said.

The trooper smelled marijuana as he woke Cooper up, police alleged.

Police said they found 66 grams of marijuana, 2 grams of cocaine, 20 Ecstasy pills, a set of scales and $1,027, all of which was seized.


Cooper was being held Tuesday night at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on $80,000 bond.

Police find indoor pot growing operation

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Police found an indoor marijuana-growing operation inside a mobile home off W.Va. 45 Monday afternoon, said West Virginia State Police Trooper J.D. Burkhart.

Burkhart said 44 pot plants and 12 ounces of processed pot were found in the home.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is continuing, Burkhart said.

Shots hit home in Marion, police say

MARION, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police said several shots were fired in Marion early Monday with at least one round hitting a house.

Police said the shots were fired shortly after midnight with one bullet striking a house on the 300 block of Colorado Street. The bullet went through the front door and a staircase before lodging in a wall, police said.
