Bank makes request to annex Citgo site

BOONSBORO - The Boonsboro Utilities Commission will consider the request of Middletown Valley Bank to annex into a town a gas station property.

The Town Council voted unanimously Monday night to send the request for annexation to the Utilities Commission for review.

According to Mayor Charles "Skip" Kauffman, the bank is buying the South Main Street Citgo gas station, and it has asked that the property be annexed into town. He called the request "a favorable annexation," since the town would only have to extend sewer services.

Little League season will begin April 16

BOONSBORO - Boonsboro baseball fans can come out of hibernation. South Mountain Little League is about to say, "Play ball!" Mayor Charles "Skip" Kauffman told Town Council at its meeting Monday night that the league's season begins April 16 at 9 a.m.

Council approves several donations

BOONSBORO - The Boonsboro Town Council unanimously approved several donations at its regular meeting Monday.


The council approved $50 donations for Washington County Showkids, a baton-twirling group, and Maryland Xplosion girls fastpitch softball team. The council also approved the donation of $750 to the 12th Annual Boonsboro Fishing Derby on May 7.

Memorial Day parade plans are being set

BOONSBORO - Plans for this year's Memorial Day parade in Boonsboro are being set. The Town Council voted Monday night to give the American Legion Auxiliary the go-ahead for the parade May 29.

According to Mayor Charles "Skip" Kauffman, the Memorial Day ceremony will be at 1 p.m., with the parade to begin at 2 p.m.
