Wilson hosts annual arts day

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The fifth annual Arts Day - a day of free events that encourage everyone to appreciate and celebrate art - will be held from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Wilson College, 1015 Philadelphia Ave.

Arts Day, which is sponsored by Wilson's Fine Arts Department, features scheduled presentations and performances as well as daylong events and exhibitions. Everything from art exhibits, films and demonstrations to hands-on workshops, architectural campus tours and comedy improv will be offered throughout the day. All events are open to the public.

As parts of Arts Day, an opening reception for the student art exhibition will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Bogigian Gallery in Warfield Hall. The exhibition features works by Wilson students and was juried by local painter Jeff Barnhart. The exhibition will be on view through Friday, May 6.

Other highlights include:

· 10-hour "Women in Art" video series, beginning at 9 a.m., Room 108, Warfield Hall. Nearly a dozen videos about women artists.


· Print Your Own Arts Day T-shirt, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lenfest Commons. Julie and Chad Routzahn and Bob Dickson will lead you through Screen-Printing Your Own T-Shirt. Blank T-shirts will be sold.

· Wilson College Drill Team Performance, 2 to 2:30 p.m., Penn Hall Equestrian Center - Hawthorne Area. Watch the team's choreographed movements to songs from the musical film, "Chicago" and more.

· Bob's 1982 World Tour, 5:30 to 6 p.m., Allen Auditorium, Warfield Hall. A multimedia presentation about Professor Bob Dickson's 1982 trip around the world.
