Commissioners set meeting for Boonsboro Community Center

April 05, 2005|by KAREN HANNA

BOONSBORO - The Washington County Commissioners will conduct their annual tax differential meeting at 7 p.m. today in Boonsboro's Community Center, Town Mayor Charles "Skip" Kauffman said during a Town Council meeting Monday night.

The county commissioners annually hold such meetings with municipalities to go over the amount of differential - or rebate - the municipalities will receive from the county. The tax differential is intended to represent the savings realized by the county because of services provided by the various municipalities.

The meeting, Kauffman said, also provides an opportunity for the county commissioners to learn more about concerns in the town. He told the council he would like to see better communication among all the county's municipalities and county government. He said he also was interested in discussing a problem of run-off from areas outside town.

Kauffman said the town will need the county's help with several projects, including the expansion of Shafer Park.
