What is your position on Washington County Hospital's proposed relocation to the Robinwood area?

I believe that the hospital will best serve our citizens by making the needed improvements at its present location. First, that location is at the center of the community, (city, county and Tri-state), and therefore is the most accessible and cost effective for the majority of the citizens that it serves. In addition, the majority of the medical profession is located near the existing hospital. Second, it has to be the most economical location because it will not be necessary to pay the cost to extend water, sewer, electricity, as well as the county's $1.7 million APFO for road improvements. Third, the $300 million cost of new construction will only add to the escalating cost of everyone's health care. There is also the traffic impact on the Dual Highway, Robinwood Drive and Mount Aetna Road, which will require major improvements that will be paid for by our citizens.

I have a vision for how to provide the best medical care for this community. The cornerstone of that vision is a new, modern, state-of-the-art inpatient medical facility setting next to one of the premier outpatient medical campus facilities on the East Coast. What could be better, in terms of health care, for this community?

Health care experts, business leaders, community leaders and some elected leaders have stated that the Robinwood location is the "right" location for a new hospital. You and many citizens have agreed with these leaders. Building a hospital adjacent to the premier outpatient facility creates a synergy for health care delivery that makes sense.

When elected, if the current mayor and City Council have not met this challenge, the 'Vision for Hagerstown Team' and I will! To all the citizens of this community it is time "to get 'er done!"
