Cedar Ridge Adventures plans Youth Roundtable

Cedar Ridge Adventures in Williamsport is offering a Youth Leaders' Roundtable on Saturday, April 9.

Bill Weaver, director for Cedar Ridge Adventures, said the event is designed to bring youth leaders and workers together so they can network and provide encouragement to one another.

"We're hoping this is a good starting point to create dialogue between different denominations, churches and civic groups," Weaver said.

While Cedar Ridge is a Christian-based ministry, it also serves schools, Scout troops and various community organizations that work with youth.

The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is designed to renew and strengthen a commitment to working with youth. It will offer creative solutions for reaching today's youth and strategies for building community, as well as developing problem-solving skills.

New cooperative games and initiatives that will enhance youth activities will be taught. Participants will get to experience Cedar Ridge's state-of-the-art ropes challenge course, while networking with other youth leaders.

The challenge course is a vehicle for demonstrating skills that will be discussed during the event, but Weaver said Cedar Ridge's philosophy of challenge by choice will apply to roundtable participants as well.

Registration for the event is $20 and includes lunch and handouts. Cedar Ridge Adventures is located at 12146 Cedar Ridge Road in Williamsport.
