Joyce E. Kelly, 62


AUG. 18, 1942-MARCH 27, 2005

EMORYVILLE, W.Va. - Joyce E. "Miss Pat" Kelly, 62, of Emoryville, died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Homewood of Williamsport.

Born Aug. 18, 1942, in Emoryville, she was the daughter of the late Elmer T. and Joy Reed Rhodes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Terrence "Terry" Kelly, in 1994.

She was the former owner of Teddy Bear Daycare Center on Water Street in Keyser, W.Va.

She is survived by two daughters, Stacy Simone of Keyser and Lorrie Fredlock of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one son, Thomas Kelly of Keyser; one sister, Bonnie S. Wisecarver of Cleveland, Miss.; three brothers, Harold Rhodes of Keyser, Darren Rhodes of Front Royal, Va., and Jerald Rhodes of Cleveland; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, W.Va. Burial will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens in Keyser.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Juanita W. Carter, 59

CARLISLE, Pa. - Juanita Watson Carter, 59, of 809 Wellington Drive, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at her home.

Born Jan. 8, 1946, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Dallas Watson Boise of Chambersburg, and the late Walter Boise.

She graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1963 and attended Waynesboro Business College.

She retired as an administrator with Appleton Papers, a European-based paper company.

She was a member of John Wesley AME Zion Church of Chambersburg.

She was a published author and the 1997 winner of the Gertrude Johnson Williams Literary Contest, established by Ebony Magazine. She has poetry in the National Library of Congress and has won honorable mentions from Central PA, the magazine formerly known as Apprise, for her short stories.

She was a board member of the Carlisle YWCA; a former board member of the AMANI Festival of Carlisle; a former board member of Jump Street in Harrisburg and Chambersburg Reunion Committee, and a Pennsylvania Realtor.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Jeffrey Carter; one daughter, Larque Blakely of Baltimore; three brothers, Robert Reid and Carl Watson, both of Chambersburg, and Walter Watson Jr. of Cincinnati; one granddaughter; one grandson; uncles; aunts; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Christine Dixson.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. Dr. Lois A. Waters will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.




Vivian L. Marcum, 82


JULY 10, 1922-MARCH 25, 2005

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Vivian Leona Marcum, 82, of Columbus, died Friday, March 25, 2005, at Doctors West Hospital in Columbus.

Born July 10, 1922, in Bedford County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Carrie Agnes Smith Crawford.

Her husband, Tommy Marcum, preceded her in death.

She was a 1941 graduate of Berkeley Springs (W.Va.) High School.

She was a Protestant.

She worked in several factories and warehousing businesses in Columbus.

She is survived by two sisters, Irma I. Twigg of Cumberland, Md., and Delmont A. Harvey of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Leo Crawford, and two infant sisters.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Michael G. Marsh will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Nebo Cemetery in Great Cacapon.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home which will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Barbara L. Snyder, 46


MARCH 1, 1959-MARCH 27, 2005

Barbara Louise Snyder, 46, of 11545 Selema Drive, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Washington County Hospital.

She was born Sunday, March 1, 1959, in Hagerstown. She is survived by her father, Elwood Reeder of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and her mother, Audrey Barnhart Hamby of Statesville, N.C.

She attended Hagerstown Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown.

She graduated in 1977 from North Hagerstown High School.

She was a member of the Washington County Junior Football League, the Golden Majorettes, and was an advisor for the Hagerstown Steelers Cheerleading.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 28 years, Samuel E. Snyder of Hagerstown; grandmother, Hazel Louise Barnhart of Hagerstown; one daughter, Jennifer Snyder of Hagerstown; two brothers, Jeff Reeder of Hagerstown, and Todd Reeder of Statesville; dearest friend, Heather Bennett of Hagerstown.

Services will be held Friday, April 1, 2005, at 11 a.m. from Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd., North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Kitty Lippy officiating.
