Health, safety fair planned for Wednesday

A free health and safety fair is scheduled Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hagerstown Elks Lodge No. 378.

The health and safety fair is being coordinated by Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park, Catoctin Mountain Park and Harpers Ferry National Historical Park.

The fair, at 11063 Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown, is for the public, employees of the National Park Service, other governmental agencies and members of the Tri-State Safety Council.

A variety of organizations will provide exhibits that address health and safety concerns in the home and workplace. Topics to be covered include Lyme disease and West Nile virus awareness, hazardous materials management, water safety, hand tool safety and eye protection.

Invitations have been extended to vendors to display and demonstrate specialized equipment used for personal protection, radio communication, law enforcement and technical rescue. Experts will discuss public health and environmental issues.

The health and safety fair is part of the National Park Service's ongoing effort to promote visitors' and employees' health and safety.
