- Washington County

"Congratulations to all of those happy Republicans. I hope you enjoy it every time you go pass the gas pump."

- Smithsburg

"I'd just like to say to all you Democrats out there who think so terribly of Bush and the administration. The fact that he has been trying to save Terri Schiavo indicates where the true-hearted American people are and that is with the Republican Party."

- Washington County

"I saw where Congress has gotten into the Terri Schiavo case. Bush was able to rush back to Washington so he could sign a law. This would indicate that he is really interested in saving this lady's life. I wonder if it's a flip-flop because well over 1,000 of our people's lives have been lost in Iraq."

- Washington County

"This is about the Ten Commandments. The first five have nothing to do with morality. They deal with the supernatural and spirituality. The second five deal with morality and all of our lives are founded around these laws - justice, crime and punishment. Keep it simple. This has nothing to do with my beliefs. I'm Canadian."

- Hagerstown

"I feel sorry for the people who don't understand a joke when they see it. Check out the young man who wanted to go to Cancun and they are telling him to get a job. It's too bad they can't understand that this was just a joke in response to something else in the paper."

-Williamsport

"I live in the city limits and I pay taxes for the city and the county and I would like to get a copy of the profit or loss statement and would like to know who I contact to get those."

"The combination of vacationer, jet ski and beer has significant potential for tragedy."

- Washington County

"I am calling about the sex offenders on our streets and in our community. I believe that sex offenders should have to wear a shirt with 'sex offender' on it or have a sign hanging on their house so we know who to trust around our children."

- Hagerstown

"I'm glad I had the opportunity to enjoy part of the Washington County large ensemble festival 2005 held at South High on March 22. There were 21 school bands participating. Very intertaining and inspiring to see so many youths gathered together displaying their musical talents."

- Hagerstown

"This past weekend we could see how dirty and low politics can get. They can't get any lower than what it is."

- Hagerstown

"I see where gas went up another four cents a gallon. I think this is ridiculous."

- Hagerstown

"Help me to understand this, first Bush is back from Texas to save one brain-damaged woman and yet he sends thousands of our troops who are not brain damaged to Iraq. Please explain it to me."

- Washington County

"This is for the 'Brevity' comic. Let's face it, it's bad."

- Washington County

"This is in reference to city officials wanting the name of Memorial Boulevard to permanently change to Willie Mays Way. The boulevard was named for soldiers who were killed during World War II and should remain that way."

- Hagerstown

"Come on, people, get off Bob Bruchey. Dick Trump made fun of his own stuttering."

- Washington County

"I was wondering if any of you readers would know how to get a person who is gravely ill on a prayer line. If you could write in and let me know, it would be greatly appreciated."

"In regards to the lady who lives in Maugansville and complains about people walking their dogs and not having a bag. Tell her it's a law that they have to clean up and next time just call the SPCA."

- Washington County

"Years ago there was a pizza place out on Pennsylvania Avenue called Hugo's. We always enjoyed their pizza and I often wondered if the recipe was passed on to anybody in the Hagerstown area."

- Waynesboro, Pa.

"I'd just like to know if someone has the number for the 'Do Not Call List?' These people bug you all the time. If you have the number, please put it in Mail Call. I'd appreciate it."

- Washington County

"In answer to the Maugansville caller. If you think you're discriminated against, one place would be the Maryland Employment Service on North Potomac Street. You might check with them, and go from there, because they are an employment service also."
