South students advance to state business leadership competition

South Hagerstown High School Future Business Leaders of America students who placed first or second in the February regional competition at Catoctin High School will participate in the Maryland State Leadership Conference at the Clarion Inn in Hagerstown April 14-16.

The Region I competition included 15 high schools from Washington, Frederick and Garrett counties. Competition included 28 events designed to test the students' business knowledge and skills.

South High's first and second place finishers were as follows:

· Accounting I, Justin Sigler, first place.

· Accounting II, Valerie Shank, first place.

· Banking and Financial Systems, Betty Willard, second place.

· Computer Concepts, Charles Boyer, first place.

· C++ Programming, Zachary Rhodes, first place.

· Impromptu Speaking, Tyler Harshman, second place.

· JAVA Programming, Philip Rodriguez, second place.


· Technology Concepts, Alexander Haines, first place.
