CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Mercersburg, Pa., man charged with sexual offenses against a 4-year-old girl has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 1 before Magisterial District Judge David E. Hawbaker.
David W. Cooper, 30, of 114 S. Main St., is charged by Mercersburg police with three counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count each of indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of a minor, according to court records.
Cooper was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Franklin County Central Court, but Assistant District Attorney Bret Palmer asked that the hearing be rescheduled to Hawbaker's Mercersburg office on April 1.
An agent with Children and Youth Services contacted the police about a report of sexual abuse of the girl on Jan. 25, according to the affidavit of probable cause. The child, who is not related to Cooper, told police in an interview the next day that Cooper had improper contact with her, police said.
