Emma M. Frye, 78


MARCH 7, 1927-MARCH 23, 2005

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va - Emma Madeline Frye, 78, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Berkeley Springs Rehab & Nursing, Berkeley Springs.

Born March 7, 1927, in Patterson Creek, W.Va, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Lula Grace Ward Duvall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Monroe Frye.

She was employed as an assembly line worker for Black & Decker for many years.

She was a member of Paw Paw United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one brother, Marvin Duvall of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., several nephews and one great-niece.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Twigg and Shirley Duvall, and one brother, John E. Duvall.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Forest Glenn United Methodist Church in Green Springs, W.Va. Pastors Wayne Frum and Pastor Deborah Shreve will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Glenn Cemetery in Green Springs, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 25, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home.




Shirley M. Shank, 66


MAY 29, 1938-MARCH 23, 2005

BOONSBORO - Shirley M. Poffenberger Shank, 66, of Reeders Memorial Home and formerly of Amos Reeder Road, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 29, 1938, in Rohrersville, she was the daughter of Dorothy Olive Main Poffenberger of Rohrersville and the late Nyle C. Poffenberger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Franklin "Toonie" Shank, in 2001.

She was a 1956 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

She retired from Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home after 27 years as a dietitian.

She was a member of Mount Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church at Locust Grove, Rohrersville.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three daughters, Tina M. Shaffer of Funkstown, Cathy S. Shank of Hagerstown and Dottie C. Howard of Boonsboro; one son, Michael L. Shank of Boonsboro; one brother, Arthur L. Poffenberger of Rohrersville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carolyn M. Tobin, 52


JUNE 3, 1952-MARCH 23, 2005

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Carolyn M. Tobin, 52, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born June 3, 1952, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Jacob B. May and Janett M. Keesecker and stepfather, Cliff Keesecker.

She is survived by her husband, Amos "Pete" Tobin Jr.; three daughters, Jonie L. Tobin and Janel E. Tobin, both of Martinsburg, and Jodie L. Cook of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one son, Jacob P. Tobin of Martinsburg; one brother, Wayne D. May of Martinsburg; three half sisters; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenny May, and half sister, Frances McDaniels.

Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Tom Blake will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Anna K. Reyer, 91


JULY 8, 1913-MARCH 23, 2005

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Anna Kathryn Reyer, 91, of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of 9911 Browns Mill Road, Greencastle, Pa., died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the nursing center.

Born July 8, 1913, in Zullinger, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George L. and Bessie E. Minnich Reyer.

She had worked at the former GEM Garment Co. of Greencastle.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle.

She is survived by one niece, Mary W. Owen of McDonough, Ga., and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary E. Wallech; one nephew; an infant sister; and an infant brother.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home in Greencastle. The Rev. Martin H. Horn will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery Waynesboro, Pa.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.




Bessie M. Clutter, 78


AUG. 30, 1926-MARCH 23, 2005

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Bessie M. Clutter, 78, of Penn Hall and formerly of 3791 Warm Spring Road, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Aug. 30, 1926, in McClellandtown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Franklin B. and Goldie M. Rhodes Maust.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Clutter, in 1966, and her companion, William L. "Bill" Shatzer, in 1999.

She was a 1944 graduate of Jefferson High School in Greene County, Pa.

She was employed by the former Royal Optical in Chambersburg for 27 years, retiring in 1996.

She was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
