Three sentenced in Pa. on sexual assault charges

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Judges sentenced three people Wednesday in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas for sexual assaults against children.

"We've just had a rash of adults having sex with children in this county," Franklin County Judge John R. Walker said.

Trevor D. Kentish, 26, of 303 W. Irva Drive, Chambersburg, was sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in jail and eight years on probation for unlawful contact with a minor. He pleaded guilty Oct. 18, 2004, to having sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl last year, according to court records.

Douglas E. Mason, 46, of 11762 Old Forge Road, Waynesboro, Pa., was sentenced to one to five years in state prison for having sexual contact with an 8-year-old boy in 2004. He pleaded guilty to indecent assault and an unrelated prohibited offensive weapons charge Dec. 22, 2004, according to court records.

Walker resentenced a Fannettsburg, Pa., man to five to 40 years in prison for rape. Raymond Nelson Neil, 41, of 11316 Creek Road, was convicted and sentenced last year for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 2002 and 2003.

Neil had to be resentenced because Walker incorrectly instructed him on the penalties for not complying with Megan's Law registration requirements for people classified as sexually violent predators, the judge said.

Also Wednesday, Franklin County Judge Richard Walsh sentenced Kendrick Charles Payne, 27, a county inmate, to nine to 23 months in jail and two years on probation for impregnating a 14-year-old girl in 2003.

Payne pleaded guilty in December to two counts of corruption of minors, according to court records.
