Pizza shop hit by armed robber


MIDDLETOWN, Md. - An armed robbery was reported Monday evening at a pizza shop in the 800 block of East Main Street, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said.

The robbery was reported at 8:27 p.m. at the James Gang Pizzeria, according to deputies.

Deputies said three men, one showing a handgun, approached a pizza delivery employee and demanded money.

Deputies said two of the three people wanted for questioning in the incident were taken into custody during a traffic stop just after 10:50 p.m. About six hours later, the handgun believed to be used in the robbery was found by investigators, according to deputies.

Deputies said no charges were filed by Tuesday.

Hagerstown police respond to calls


The Hagerstown Police Department responded to the following calls, according to Sgt. Paul Kifer:

Friday:

· Domestic violence incidents were reported in the first block of Wakefield Road and the 100 block of East Baltimore Street.

· At 3:04 a.m., an assault was reported in the 300 block of South Locust Street. Dwayne S. Way, 25, and Kaumba L. Simmons, 28, were charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct among other offenses.

· At 12:03 p.m., a theft was reported in the first block of North Burhans Boulevard.

· At 7:57 a.m., a Maryland license plate was reported stolen.

· At 6:57 p.m., tires were reported slashed on a vehicle parked at Staples on Wesel Boulevard.

· At 9:53 p.m., a burglary was reported in the 400 block of Pangborn Boulevard.

Saturday:

· Domestic violence incidents were reported in the 100 block of East Avenue and the 100 block of South Prospect Street.

· At 11:54 a.m., damage to and theft from a vehicle was reported in the 500 block of North Locust Street.

· At 7:50 p.m., Kenneth William Nicewarner, 29, was charged for obstructing and hindering at the Petsmart on Garland Groh Boulevard.

Sunday:

Sunday

· Domestic violence incidents were reported in the 100 block of East Baltimore Street, the 900 block of Summit Avenue, the first block of North Prospect Street and the 900 block of West Washington Street.

· At 7:38 a.m., beer and money was reported stolen from the 500 block of Mitchell Avenue.

· At 10:40 p.m., a red Safari moped was reported stolen from the 100 block of McComas Street.




Motorcyclist hurt in Pa. crash Tuesday


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A motorcyclist was injured Tuesday evening in a crash on Lincoln Way West, according to St. Thomas Volunteer Fire Co. Deputy Chief Artie Bishop.

The accident happened at 6:37 p.m. near Back Creek, according to a dispatcher with the Franklin County 911 center.

Bishop said the man was conscious when rescue personnel arrived and told them he had lost control of the motorcycle. Bishop said the man was flown to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center by helicopter.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Bishop said.

Additional information was not available Tuesday night.
