Color is back in style for prom season with the girls taking the lead, said Kate Wood, assistant editor with promspot.com.
Classic black dresses always will be in style, however colors, especially lighter colors, are back, Wood said.
Mermaid silhouettes, Cinderella ball gowns and sleek, column dresses are in style this season, according to Wood and Carol Norton, owner of Jane Anderson Brides in downtown Hagers-town. Dresses with short trains also are in for prom, having made the jump from women's adult evening and bridal styles, she said.
For the guys, the look has become more relaxed and diverse, Wood said.
Ninety-five percent of the tuxedos guys rent for prom from Ingram's Men's Shop downtown are black, but there are new colors available in full-back vests and ties, owner Frank Fearnow Jr. said.
