McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A McConnellsburg man was arrested on rape charges in connection with incidents dating back to August 2003, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Thomas C. Abbott Jr., 34, of 221 Lincoln Way West, was charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, indecent assault, terroristic threats, sexual abuse of children and criminal use of a communication facility, according to police.

Police allege Abbott had sex with a 7-year-old Fulton County, Pa., girl and committed inappropriate acts with her between August 2003 and Feb. 24, 2005.

Police alleged that inappropriate photographs of the girl and child pornography were discovered inside the residence.

Authorities from Norfolk, Va., assisted in the investigation, according to police.

Police did not release additional information on the investigation Wednesday.

Abbott was being held Wednesday on $200,000 bond at Adams County (Pa.) Prison, a prison spokesman said.

Abbott's preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for March 24.
