March 09, 2005|by TARA REILLY

The Massey family on Tuesday was named Citizen of the Month for February by the Washington County Commissioners.

The family donated land to Washington County Free Library in memory of Paul Curtis Massey and Margaret Kennedy Massey, according to the proclamation.

The land was donated by Alvin Massey, Paul C. Massey III, Jerry E. Massey and their sister, Judy Massey Strock.

The land is used as the main parking lot for the library's South Potomac Street facility.

The Masseys leased the land to the library for $1 a year for 41 years.

According to the county, the land will allow the library to be flexible in future expansion and renovation plans.
