"I'd just like to comment that there is something wrong with this picture that Martha Stewart gets out of jail and has to wear an ankle bracelet for five or six months confined to her home. People stole pensions from everybody down there in Texas, stole the people's life savings and they are still walking the streets. What kind of justice is this in America? Are we a bunch of mixed-up people or what?

"Before Dr. Guy Altieri is allowed to engage in any further expansion, whether it be by modification of any physical plant or the curriculum, he ought to be forced to address the parking situation at Hagers-town Community College. All the educational opportunity in the world is worth nothing if the students cannot find a place to park their vehicle."

- Hagerstown

" I just say welcome home Martha."

"In regards to the caller's comments in the paper about the Hagerstown police officers, I speak for myself and other senior citizens who although we live in Halfway we have additional reason to express appreciation for our neighbor next door is an officer in the Hagerstown Police Department and everytime there is snow he faithfully removes the snow from our driveway and the mailbox. He does the same for other senior citizens and we would like to say thanks and God bless you."

- Halfway

"I'm calling to make a comment about these religious leaders talking about gambling. What they ought to do is take away bingo that they have six or seven days a week because that is also gambling."

- Hagerstown

"I would like to thank my two snow angels for helping me get out of the snow in Maplesville."

- Keedysville

"This is for the caller who said he is constantly being scolded to get a life, said he didn't work, he didn't socialize and all he does was read, listen to music, and eat delicious things. I am a firm believer that you get out of life what you put into it. It seems like his reward is going to be very minimal."

"As a deaf person myself and a member of our deaf community, I feel Congress needs to investigate the abuse of the Social Security Disability Income System. Stronger regulations need to be imposed for those qualifying for this service. I know of many deaf individuals with college degrees who take advantage of this benefit. For reasons I can never understand, those individuals' children also have the luxury of receiving Social Security Disability Benefits."

"This is a comment about the police looking for suspicious vehicles. Because I had my radio on and my hat turned backwards, I was also pulled over for looking suspicious. I had the last laugh because I had nothing for them to match their quota with, but I bet had I been wearing a straw hat with country music playing I would have been all right."

"Concerning the alley that runs directly behind the 200 block of Summit between Baltimore Street and Lee Street something is definitely needed there before somebody gets hurt. A speed bump or possibly a one-way sign turning into a one-way street is needed. People use this alley to bypass Potomac Street and I've seen as many as 10 cars in five minutes ride through there. This should be an alley not a street."

- Hagerstown

"I'm calling in reference to whoever called in about Tim Rowland, that they're tired of him and he's not a doer and all this and that. They obviously do not understand this man, this man is a columnist and he's a funny columnist at that. And in a way he is a doer because he's speaking up about things and he puts it in a commical way, but speaking up about things is being a doer too."

"I'm calling in reference to the person who has put in the thought that everybody should be thinking about the asbestos lawsuit. A class-action lawsuit will not get anybody any money but the lawyers. I've been there, I've done that."

- Big Pool

"I don't know how Alan Greenspan gets his job, whether he's appointed or can't be replaced or what it is that he keeps on hanging on. But I think it's time that he gets the nod and give somebody else a chance because I think he's getting too old to be in the 21st century."
