The Martins


Truman and Cora Martin of Hagerstown celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Windy Hill Restaurant in Clear Spring. The event was hosted by their children and families.

The Martins were married Jan. 30, 1965, at the home of the bride.

Mrs. Martin is the daughter of the late Amos and Ruth Martin.

Mr. Martin is the son of the late Abel and Iva Martin.

They still are farming on the farm where Mrs. Martin was raised.

The Martins have seven children, six granddaughters and five grandsons.




The Laffertys


Kenton and Bernice Lafferty of Williamsport celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Andrew's Steak and Seafood Restaurant in Hagerstown.

The event was hosted by their children and families, Randy and Judy Lafferty, Micheal and Linda Lafferty and Scott Lafferty. A daughter, Norma Harsh of Texas, was unable to attend. The event was attended by family and friends.

Mrs. Lafferty is a homemaker.

Mr. Lafferty retired from General Motors in 1995.

The Laffertys have five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A great-grandson died in 2002.




The Webbers


William and Betty (Demory) Webber celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary at Ravenwood Lutheran Village where

Betty is a patient. Their children and the staff were in attendance.

The Webbers were married Jan. 20, 1943, after only three dates. Mr. Webber said it was love at first sight.

Mr. Webber is a veteran of World War II.
