Kohl's opens for business

March 01, 2005|by TARA REILLY

Kohl's quietly opened its doors for business near Hagerstown on Sunday, but a grand opening is scheduled for Thursday morning.

Kohl's Public Relations Manager Lori Sansoucie said Monday the purpose of Sunday's "soft opening" was to give the store's employees a chance to work with customers and "work out the kinks" before Thursday's grand opening.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. Thursday, and the store will open at 8 a.m., Sansoucie said.

The approximately 88,000-square-foot store, in the Crosspoint Shopping Center on Cole Road near Target in Halfway, has about 150 employees, Sansoucie said.

The store's hours are Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In May, the Washington County Planning Commission approved the site plan for Kohl's, several other retail shops and a restaurant in the shopping center.
