Featured home - Luxury is standard in new Black Rock Estate homes

February 28, 2005|by MALINDA SHAVER of HomeSource

Among new home selections in Washington County, prospective buyers should include a visit to Maxxam Homes at Black Rock Estates to experience the "gourmet menu" of space, floor plans and finishing touches typified by the newly opened Visitor's Center at 19025 Sasha Blvd., off Mount Aetna Rd.

Starting with the surroundings, the amenities include the Black Rock Golf Course almost at the front door. Within walking distance is the Washington County Regional Park. Commuters will appreciate convenient access to I-70. Hagerstown Community College, Washington County Hospital and the Robinwood Medical Campus are also close by.

The Black Rock Estates Section C will include 53 homes, about a third of them under construction and for sale, with delivery expected this spring and summer. A home package can be purchased before construction, with a six to eight month delivery, giving the buyer the opportunity to select not only a lot but a range of house models and floor plans, currently including more than six variations. A choice of exterior style and trim is possible during early-stage construction. The all-brick exteriors may feature gables, arched windows, columned porticos, and dramatic entrances.

Floor plans range from more traditional, defined rooms, to contemporary, open styles, where space flows from one room to the next. All plans provide a minimum of 4,000 square feet, and can include five or more bedrooms. Lots are generous too, starting at about half an acre; some sites are up to an acre in size.

On the practical side, the area is served by county water and sewer utilities. Subdivision roads are publicly maintained. A yearly fee for maintaining entrances is currently set at $50.

"Standard Features You Won't Believe"

Not just a motto but a temptation, the Maxxam homes include the most in-demand features: hardwood floors; ceramic tile; granite countertops in kitchen and baths. Trim packages are delightfully detailed, including crown molding and chair rails in the formal rooms. Dining room and master bedroom have elegant tray ceilings with recessed lighting. Further options allow expressing the owner's personal style. The Visitor's Center will include a wide selection of interior finishes . . . flooring, cabinet and lighting options will bring the owner's personal style to the fore.

These homes are technology-ready, too, with pre-wired cable in bedrooms and family room, Cat5 quality telephone wiring throughout, central vacuum plumbing, and pre-installed security system wiring.

Fulfill your dream of space

Beginning with the regally-sized front foyer, rooms are generous, and the feeling of luxury is enhanced by wide hallways throughout. Cathedral ceilings and two-story rooms abound.

Owner's suites are featured, including the popular super bath - twin vanities, whirlpool bath, separate shower. And all homes have at least three full baths plus a half bath on the living level.

Going beyond the ordinary, the Maxxam models include a three-car attached garage, and a full basement that offers space for family activities and entertainment. The builder can provide an estimate to finish the area as you desire - game room, media room, guest suite and more.

Depending on model and lot, the purchaser may consider options such as decks, porches, two-way fireplaces, even a solarium.

Price range on the houses currently available is $600,000 to $800,000.

Sales are being handled by SuZanne Glocker and The Glocker Group, an Associate Broker of Coldwell Banker. With the opening of the Visitor's Center on Saturday, March 5, representatives will be available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily; or Wednesday by appointment. Telephone is 301-745-1529, or toll free, 1-800-634-1484.
