Snowmobile accident kills Fulton County man

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A 38-year-old man died after his snowmobile hit a utility pole Thursday night, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Scott M. Martz, of Trails End Road in Hustontown, Pa., died from his injuries in the crash, police said.

Police said Martz was not wearing a helmet.

He was riding a Yamaha Exciter 440D snowmobile south on Davis Lane, a half-mile north of Buck Road, in Taylor Township, police said.

Martz lost control of the snowmobile, and the snowmobile hit a utility pole about 10:45 p.m., police said.

Martz was employed as a carpenter by Michael Binder Construction Co. in McConnellsburg.

Martz is survived by his parents, Fred and Linda Martz Black of McConnellsburg; his companion, Becky Sipes; two sons, Hunter Martz and Haiden Martz; maternal grandfather, Fred Martz of Hustontown; and two sisters, Sherri McClain of McConnellsburg, and Stacy Tansits of Burlington, N.J.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home in Hustontown. Burial will be in Hustontown Cemetery.
