Bridal expo

Bridal Bliss 2005 Bridal Expo will be from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at The Clarion Hotel & Conference Center Antietam Creek.

Highlights include a sampling of hotel wedding menu hors d'oeuvres and beverages, wedding cake and ice carving displays, live music, and a tour of the hotel's banquet facilities, guest rooms and suites.

Regional vendors and the hotel will showcase services and items such as photography, bridal gowns, flowers, music, tableware, catering, limousines and honeymoon travel. Future brides and grooms will be eligible to win door prizes, including an overnight stay in a hotel suite.

Food and beverage items will be prepared under the supervision of hotel executive chef Mike Mathis.

Admission is $3 per person. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness/Cumberland Valley. For information, call 301-733-5566.

Home-school library program

The next "Fridays at the Library" for home-schoolers will be "Creative Writing" on Friday, March 11, in B/C Meeting Room at Washington County Free Library, 100 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown.


The elementary program will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., and the high school program will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Middle school students may choose which session they prefer to attend. There is space available for 75 participants.

Participants will learn creative writing techniques and will be using this as the first step to creating their own book which they will complete in May.

Washington County Free Library hosts a series of free programs for homeschoolers entitled "Fridays at the Library," held on the second Friday of every month during the school year.
