John R. Marsh Cancer Center

The John R. Marsh Cancer Center's cancer program has been granted approval by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

The approvals program sets standards for cancer programs and reviews the programs to make sure they conform to those standards. The program promotes consultation among surgeons, oncologists and other cancer specialists.

Approval by the Commission on Cancer is awarded to facilities that voluntarily commit to provide the best in diagnosis and treatment of cancer and to undergo a rigorous evaluation process. An on-site review of the program is completed every three years.

The cancer center is part of the Washington County Health System.

Graber & Ross Chartered

Graber & Ross Chartered, a certified public accounting firm in Hagerstown, recently merged with Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn P.A. of Owings Mills, Md.


The combined firm will operate under the name of Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn P.A. and maintain separate offices.

Marty Yospa, a partner with Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn P.A., will take over the daily responsibilities of the Hagerstown office.

Shenandoah Valley Medical System

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -Shenandoah Valley Medical System recently announced the completion of Shenandoah Community Health Center.

The new facility, at 99 Tavern Road, will house various Shenandoah Valley Medical System services including internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, WIC, behavioral health services, midwifery care, obstetrics and gynecology. Administration, billing services and services for special populations also will be located at the center.

A ceremony to celebrate the opening of the center will be March 19 at noon. U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., will lead the dedication ceremony.

LITITZ, Pa. - Susquehanna Bancshares Inc. recently acquired Brandywine Benefits Corp. and Rockford Pensions LLC, a financial planning, consulting and administration firm specializing in retirement benefit plans for small- to medium-sized businesses.

Brandywine serves more than 250 customers in the mid-Atlantic region and generates about $1.3 million in annual revenue.

Susquehanna Bancshares is the parent company of Farmers & Merchants Bank & Trust.
