Musselman senior wins Berkeley County pageant

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Amber Hamilton was crowned Miss Berkeley County 2005 on Saturday night at the Apollo Civic Theatre.

Hamilton, 18, of Gerrardstown, W.Va., a senior at Musselman High School, sang during the talent competition. She is the daughter of Nancy and Tony Hamilton.

Hamilton received her crown from Julie Linton, Miss Berkeley County 2004.

For winning the title of Miss Berkeley County, Hamilton received a $1,000 scholarship, a $500 in-kind scholarship for Shepherd University and a $500 wardrobe allowance to help her prepare for the Miss West Virginia Scholarship Pageant on June 17.

First runner-up was Jessica Morrison, 20, of Martinsburg, a junior at West Virginia Wesleyan College. The daughter of D. Michael and Brenda Morrison, she received a $500 scholarship and other gifts. She sang "Someone to Watch over Me."

Kara Frye, 20, of Hedgesville, W.Va., and a junior at Shepherd University was named second runner-up. The daughter of Jonathan and Janice Frye, she received a $250 scholarship. She performed a classical vocal piece.

Eleven contestants competed.
