Church cafe to mark third anniversary

February 21, 2005

For three years, the doors to the One Way Cafe at Hagerstown Grace Brethren Church have opened to church members and the public the first Saturday night of the month. The cafe, a Christian coffeehouse, features live entertainment, fellowship, snacks and coffee.

The third anniversary celebration is scheduled for March 5, and will feature the band Common Clay.

Doors open at 6 p.m., hot food is served at 6:30 p.m. and the music will begin at 7 p.m. There is no charge to attend, although donations are welcome.

The coffeehouse is in the lower auditorium of the church at 837 Spruce St. in Hagerstown. It began in a smaller space in the church, but had to move to accommodate the 80 to 100 people who attend.

The house band at One Way Cafe, Forgiven, usually plays at the coffeehouse once a year, but fills in if a scheduled band can't make it. It recently released a new CD, "Lost Without God's Love," which contains original music from the band.
