Leadership program might move to HCC

February 16, 2005|by WANDA T. WILLIAMS

Leadership Hagerstown might move its offices to the campus of Hagerstown Community College, college President Guy Altieri said at Tuesday's board of trustees meeting.

Leadership Hagerstown, a program that offers leadership training classes to area professionals, has been housed in the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce space in downtown Hagerstown since its inception, Altieri said.

"There has been some discussion to broaden the program to include the college's leadership program to create a curriculum and perhaps a special track for CEOs that may be offered every three or four years," he said.

Altieri said he's been meeting with community leaders who are thinking about expanding and diversifying Leadership Hagerstown's curriculum.

Trustees agreed to support relocating the program to HCC's campus.

"It would have its own separate board of directors and they'd be renting space on our campus and interfacing with our faculty and our student leadership programs," Altieri said.

No final decision has been made and HCC officials will discuss the matter further. Representatives of Leadership Hagerstown couldn't be reached for additional comment.
